Sources: West Brom eyeing Newcastle United midfielder ahead of summer window

West Bromwich Albion are keen on Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff, Football League World has been told.

The Baggies are currently struggling for form in the Sky Bet Championship and have yet to receive any ‘new manager bounce’ since Steve Bruce’s arrival to take over from Valerien Ismael.

Indeed, it currently looks quite possible that West Brom are going to be in the second tier again next season and Bruce will be thinking about signings he can make to try and achieve promotion at the end of the 22/23 campaign.

Longstaff, then, is one player that is on his radar, Football League World has been told.

The player is currently contracted with Newcastle United but his deal is up at the end of the season and so he could be available on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old has made 10 appearances in the Premier League so far for the Magpies from the start, whilst also appearing a further 5 times in the top flight off of the bench.

He’s not featured since the 1-0 win over Leeds United back in January, meanwhile, and has a goal and an assist in the Premier League this season to his name.

Chronicle Live reports that talks have been ongoing over a new contract at United, though, so it remains to be seen just what his future could hold.
