Akin Odimayo is set to sign a new one-year deal with Swindon Town to end speculation over his future, Football League World can reveal exclusively.

The talented defender was a real shining point in a season of difficulty last year for the Robins, with them dropping into Sky Bet League Two at the end of the campaign.

Indeed, it had looked as though Odimayo would be playing for a new side for the coming season, with him linking up with Portsmouth earlier this summer and training with them ahead of a potential move to Fratton Park, with us here at Football League World also breaking that story.

However, Danny Cowley pulled a u-turn and opted against giving Odimayo a contract on the south coast and he is now set to remain at the County Ground for at least one more season, as the Robins look to bounce back in Sky Bet League Two.

Football League World can reveal he's set to sign a new one-year contract with the Robins ahead of the new campaign, and he'll then surely be eager to try and move on from all the speculation and chatter and get focused on on-pitch matters once more.

There's no doubting his quality, and he'll be eager to underline that in the fourth tier this campaign.
