Swansea City want to keep Marc Guehi for next season but will only be able to do so if they are a Premier League club, Football League World has exclusively learned.
The Swans look set to have to be content with a play-off finish again this season with six points between them and second-placed Watford with four games left to play in the Championship.
Indeed, they’ll be looking to go further in them than they did last season and, in fact, will have to go the whole way and earn a spot in the Premier League if they are to keep one of their star defenders; Marc Guehi.
The on-loan Chelsea man has stood out again for the Swans this year – he has made 37 league appearances, with his temporary side possessing the third-best defensive record in the Championship – and Football League World has learned that they are eager to keep him in Wales for next year too, but the deal is only possible if they are a Premier League team.
They have accepted that and if they cannot offer him such a level next year, it is likely we will see him playing for another Premier League side if not Chelsea in 2021/22.
