Liverpool and Southampton are in the frame to pounce on Fabio Carvalho's precarious future at Fulham after the playmaker rejected the Cottagers' latest contract offer, Football League World understands.

It was reported by The Sun last night that Carvalho had rejected a 'massive' contract offer from Fulham, who may now be forced to sell the playmaker when the January transfer window comes around. His current deal at Craven Cottage expires in the summer.

Football League World understand that Fulham's offer to Carvalho was around the £25k-a-week mark, with clubs now beginning to circle and firm up their interest.

Liverpool and Southampton are two clubs that we understand are in the frame to lure the 19-year-old back into the Premier League.

Carvalho scored once in four top-flight appearances last year with Fulham, impressing despite their relegation under Scott Parker.

He's made five Championship starts under Parker's predecessor, Marco Silva, this season, scoring three goals and also registering an assist.

Fulham sit second in the Championship table after Saturday's 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.
