Sheffield Wednesday are stepping up their pursuit of Akin Odimayo but face competition from Doncaster Rovers and Richie Wellens for his signature, a source has exclusively revealed to Football League World.
Odimayo made 35 appearances for Swindon Town last season, but despite his best efforts, they were relegated out of League One.
However, the 21-year-old is set to be offered the chance to remain in the third-tier, with interest emerging from Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster.
A source has revealed to Football League World that Sheffield Wednesday are set to step up their interest in Odimayo, as Darren Moore looks to shape his squad for the new season and a first return to League One in almost a decade.
They face competition for his signature, though, from Doncaster. Wellens has come into the club as Moore’s successor at the Keepmoat Stadium and has set his sights on reuniting with Odimayo, who he managed during his time with Swindon.

Odimayo was a product of the Reading FC academy, but linked up with Swindon on a short-term contract in the summer of 2020.
However, he is yet to agree terms to stay at Swindon and, as things stand, will be out of contract at the end of the month. Swindon offered the centre-back a new contract upon releasing their retained list.
