Port Vale are set to sign Salford City defender Dan Jones on a free transfer, Football League World can exclusively reveal.
Both Vale and Salford will meet in Sky Bet League Two next season having not been able to make the play-offs for this year, with Jones on the move between the two.
The player has already spent time away from Salford this season, in fact, with a loan spell coming at EFL new-boys Harrogate Town and it looks as though City boss Gary Bowyer is happy to let him leave this summer on a more permanent basis.
Jones racked up 25 appearances in all competitions last season, earning six yellow cards in the process, and so Vale will hope he brings that competitiveness to the left side of their defence but perhaps curbs the cautions.
Either way, he’s set to be the latest signing for Vale as they look to build on their 13th place finish in 2020/21.
