Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo will weigh up his future at the end of the season rather than in the January transfer window, Football League World understands.
The Times reported recently that Fulham were set to field January interest from Newcastle United in Tosin, with the Magpies facing up to an almighty fight for Premier League survival in 2022.
However, Football League World have been told that Tosin is not looking to leave Fulham in the January transfer window. Instead, he will roll his sleeves up until the summer and then make a decision on his future.
The 24-year-old has made 19 appearances for Fulham this season and scored his first goal for the club recently in the 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth at Craven Cottage.
Marco Silva’s side currently top the Championship table and remain the best placed side for promotion back to the Premier League, despite a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United denying them a potential five-point Christmas lead at the summit of the division.
Last year, former Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers defender, Tosin made 33 appearances in the Premier League, featuring regularly as the Cottagers dropped out of the top-flight under Scott Parker’s management.
A combination of that form and Tosin’s undoubted talent reportedly has Eddie Howe and Newcastle on alert as they approach their first transfer window since their well-documented takeover.
Swooping this January feels unlikely, though, with a decision on the centre-back’s future set to come in the summer of 2022.
