Premier League side Burnley could look to Middlesbrough for potential further signings, with former Boro figure Paul Jenkins now Academy Director with the Clarets, Football League World has been exclusively told.

The Clarets have started this season pretty slowly in the Premier League and some might be a little worried about their top-flight status - though we have seen this before and they have regularly turned things around.

Indeed, it's early days and Sean Dyche will look to get the best out of his squad, though he may already be planning for further signings in January.

Middlesbrough, too, could be a source of such arrivals with Football League World being told that the Clarets, thanks to the arrival of Jenkins, see the Teesside club as a particularly viable option for new players - particularly in defence.

The likes of Dael Fry has been linked with the men from Turf Moor, with Jenkins helping him come through at Boro during his time there, and interest remains in the defender as they look to potentially find more competition for James Tarkowski and Ben Mee.

Of course, Middlesbrough have Premier League ambitions of their own and that could scupper Burnley's hopes, but it is clear Jenkins could potentially look to use some of his old contacts to help his new side.
