MK Dons have held talks with Ipswich Town winger Gwion Edwards over a potential free transfer, though the Tractor Boys are still in discussions over a new contract too, Football League World has been told exclusively.

A busy summer awaits the men from Portman Road with Paul Cook embarking on his first transfer window as Ipswich Town boss and he's already gone on record to say that he expects to be making a lot of changes to his playing squad.

Of course, a number of players are out of contract this summer and Edwards is one of them, with it as yet undecided as to where he'll be next year.

A source close to the situation has told Football League World that fellow League One side MK Dons have held talks with the player over a potential free transfer, with Russell Martin looking to bolster his squad as they aim to build on their 13th place finish this season.

It's not a foregone conclusion that Edwards moves to Milton Keynes, however, with Ipswich still in discussions themselves with him over a potential new deal.

His current contract at Ipswich expires this summer, of course, and a decision either way will need to be made soon.
