Middlesbrough have enquired about Preston North End striker Emil Riis as Chris Wilder looks to add more forward firepower before the end of the summer transfer window, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.

Boro have already signed Marcus Forss from Brentford and Matthew Hoppe from RCD Mallorca this summer while Chuba Akpom has fought his way back into contention with a strong start to the season but it appears they are still keen to strengthen up top.

It's been a fairly busy summer already at the Riverside but with money to spend after the sales of Djed Spence and Marcus Tavernier, the Teessiders are now eyeing a raid on their Championship rivals.

Sources have told FLW that the North East club have enquired about Riis.

The Preston striker is goalless in his first four games in 2022/23 but scored 20 times for the Deepdale outfit last season, as well as adding five assists.

That was by far the most productive season of the 24-year-old's career and earned him a first call-up to the Denmark national squad in November.

Preston signed Riis for a little more than £1 million from Randers FC in 2020 and the striker was handed a new long-term deal in October last year, which keeps him under contract until 2025.
