Lincoln City will reignite their interest in Morgan Whittaker at Swansea City in the January transfer window after missing out on his signature late in the summer, Football League World understands.

Whittaker was set to join Lincoln on loan back in the summer transfer window, but that agreement to take the 20-year-old on loan fell through at the 11th hour.

Football League World understand that Lincoln are now readying themselves for a fresh shot at signing Whittaker in January.

Michael Appleton's side are down in 16th and looking for signings in the New Year to help put their season on track.

Previously, Appleton has commented on whether or not the Imps will move again for Whittaker, quoted by Lincolnshire Live as saying: “We will if we think there’s an opportunity for it to happen.

“But, at the same time, we’re not going to put ourselves in a position where we might lose out."

It appears that Lincoln will indeed rekindle that interest in the winger, who has struggled for game-time at Swansea under Russell Martin.

Whittaker has managed only 76 minutes combined in the Championship this season for Swansea, which comes from six cameo appearances from the bench.

However, Whittaker impressed against Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Cup earlier in the season, scoring a hat-trick in a complete performance in the second round.
