Middlesbrough are fielding interest from Leicester City and Southampton in Djed Spence, Football League World understands.
Spence has made three appearances for Boro in the Championship’s opening four fixtures this season, including two starts under Neil Warnock.
The right-back’s quality isn’t going unnoticed, though, with Middlesbrough fielding late interest in the 21-year-old from the Premier League.
Football League World understand that the Boro man is on the radar of Leicester and Southampton.
The summer transfer window has only nine days to run up until the end of August and it remains to be seen whether or not Boro receive an offer from the Premier League for the service of their young right-back.
Spence committed to a long-term contract at the Riverside Stadium back in February 2020. That’s tied him down until the summer of 2023, leaving Boro in a strong position to command a decent fee if either Leicester or Southampton come knocking with a formal offer.
On Saturday, Spence was an unused substitute as Boro were held to a goalless draw by Derby County. That result has left Boro 12th in the table, with five points from their opening four games.
