Middlesbrough have had no new contact with regard to bids to sign Marcus Tavernier this summer, Football League World understands.

Chris Wilder watched Boro miss out on a place in the play-offs late in the 2021/22 season and focus has switched to the upcoming campaign, where the hope will be there's a more serious assault on promotion.

Building towards that, recruitment will be key, but as Boro are still a Championship club, they are at risk of the Premier League vultures picking up their top talent.

A report from The Sun recently claimed that Bournemouth were interested in Tavernier following their promotion to the Premier League, as Scott Parker looks to revamp his squad on the South Coast.

That's been one of the more prominent stories when it comes to Tavernier potentially leaving Boro, yet there have been no developments.

Football League World have been told that the situation surrounding the midfielder hasn't changed and Boro have received no fresh contact over their player.

Tavernier, 23, featured on 44 occasions last season for Boro, showcasing versatility to play as both a midfielder and a wing-back in Wilder's systems.

He also enjoyed his most productive season to date, with five goals and five assists to his name in the Championship.
