Hull City are giving serious consideration to signing Ryan Babel in the summer transfer window, sources have explained to Football League World.

Reports from Hull Live late in the January transfer window following Hull's takeover linked the Tigers with a surprise move for Babel.

Ultimately, that deal didn't come off, but the club's interest in the forward doesn't appear to have waned.

Football League World understand that Hull are continuing to give serious consideration to recruiting Babel ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Babel, 35, is currently on the books at Galatasaray but is out of contract with the Turkish giants in the summer. It was claimed back in January that the move to the MKM Stadium was something that appealed to the former Premier League striker.

Earlier in his career, Babel made 146 appearances for Liverpool, including 91 in the Premier League, scoring 22 goals in all competitions for the Reds.

His career has since taken him to a number of clubs, including a reunion with Ajax and a brief spell with Fulham, before Babel settled in Turkey.

The Dutchman has been on the books with Galatasaray since 2019 and has made 85 appearances for them, scoring 15 times.

Hull currently sit 20th in the table under Shota Arveladze, having collected 37 points from 36 fixtures. Despite an inconsistent start to life under their new manager, who replaced Grant McCann, the Tigers are 13 points clear of the relegation zone with 10 games remaining.

Plans, it seems, are already being put in place for next season.
