Peterborough United could re-sign Reece Brown from Huddersfield Town during the final hours of the January transfer window, sources have explained to Football League World.

Brown spent last season on loan with Posh in League One, featuring in 38 league fixtures and 44 across all competitions, scoring twice.

That loan in 2020/21 following a cameo stint at the club in 2020 before the season was curtailed due to the pandemic.

Football League World have been told this afternoon that there's a possibility that Brown re-signs for Darren Ferguson's side before the January transfer window's deadline.

Since returning to Huddersfield in the summer, the 25-year-old has failed to break into Carlos Corberan's plans, as the Terriers chase play-off football.

He's behind the likes of Lewis O'Brien, Jonathan Hogg, Scott High and Jon Russell in the pecking order, whilst Corberan has also just added Tino Anjorin to his squad on loan from Chelsea.

Brown has made just a single League Cup appearance for Town, which came all the way back in 2019.

The former Forest Green and Birmingham City midfielder did feature on the Huddersfield bench in the opening two rounds of the Championship season, but didn't get the call against either Derby County or Fulham, despite Corberan having threadbare options at that time.

Huddersfield sit seventh in the table and are motoring on towards a play-off push in 2022, whilst Peterborough are 22nd and looking to retain their Championship status for a second season.
