Harrogate Town are set to sign Luke Armstrong from Salford City just days after he inspired Hartlepool United to promotion back into the EFL, a source has exclusively revealed to Football League World.

The forward has been on the books at Salford since 2019 but has found opportunities limited, which led him to Hartlepool on loan in December of last year.

Armstrong has just helped Hartlepool to promotion through the National League play-offs over the weekend, scoring in the 1-1 draw with Torquay at Ashton Gate - a clash that the North East side would eventually win 5-4 on penalties.

A source has now revealed to Football League World that Armstrong will be leaving Salford following his National League heroics, with Harrogate set to be his permanent destination.

Simon Weaver's side had a strong and steady season in League Two last year after stepping out of the National League themselves.

They are now set to land a forward with a thirst for goals in the form of Armstrong.

The 24-year-old's strike in the National League play-off final was his 15th goal of the season, with Armstrong scoring at a rate of almost a goal every two games for Hartlepool following his arrival in 2020.
