Colchester United are eyeing a move for Milton Keynes Dons midfielder Dan Kemp, Football League World has exclusively learnt.

The 23-year-old, who progressed through the academy ranks at Chelsea and West Ham United, has struggled for game time with the Dons this season and has been confined to just 275 minutes of League One action thus far.

With it looking increasingly likely that a January departure could be sanctioned by the Buckinghamshire-based club, Colchester are showing an early interest in Kemp.

Able to operate on both wings, in an advanced midfield position and slightly deeper in a number eight role, the 23-year-old would provide Matt Bloomfield's side with attacking versatility.

Kemp arrived at Stadium MK last January after a positive first half of the 2021/22 campaign at Leyton Orient, however, he was unable to play much of a part during the second half of the season when his move to Buckinghamshire was sanctioned.

The U's currently sit 22nd in the League Two standings and are a mere two points clear of fourth-tier safety, with January set to be an important window for the Essex club.
