Cambridge United are edging closer to securing the signing of AFC Bournemouth defender Zeno Ibsen Rossi, sources have exclusively revealed to Football League World.

The 21-year-old, who started three of Bournemouth's first four Championship fixtures during the 2021/22 campaign, spent the second half of the season on loan at Dundee FC.

Football League World understands that Ibsen Rossi is set for a medical at The Abbey Stadium today, ahead of what is expected to be a permanent move to the League One club.

Born in London, the young defender spent time in the academies at Brentford and Southampton before arriving at Bournemouth as a 16-year-old.

It is understood that Cambridge boss Mark Bonner has played an integral role in the young defender's decision to join the League One outfit, with the U's set to beat a whole host of clubs, at home and in Europe, to his permanent signature.

Ibsen Rossi is expected to sign a three-year deal with the U's, with Bonner and Co. looking to build upon last season's 14th-placed finish.
