Burnley will not be allowing midfielder Josh Brownhill to depart Turf Moor on transfer deadline day, despite strong interest from the Premier League, sources have exclusively told Football League World.

The 26-year-old has started the 2022-23 season in fine form in the Championship, scoring four times in seven outings for the Clarets as he emerges as a key cog in Vincent Kompany's system.

His performances have caught the attention of top flight clubs looking to secure last-minute deals, with FLW revealing earlier in the week that the likes of Leicester City and Southampton have been considering making a move.

Leeds United are another club that had Brownhill on their radar, as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Bruno Lage's side were believed to decide against making an offer in the end.

Now though, Burnley have made a definitive decision on the ex-Bristol City man's future, with there being absolutely no way that the Clarets will be cashing in on the playmaking midfielder before the 11pm deadline.
