Bolton Wanderers are eyeing a move for Accrington attacker Dion Charles in the January window in a bid to boost their attacking options, Football League World understands.

The two League One sides have had similar campaigns so far with just four points separating them in the league - the Trotters sit 15th and Accrington sit in 10th.

The latter, though, have largely done that without Charles being a part of the matchday squad this season with a standoff ongoing over him signing a new contract with the club.

Indeed, he had an excellent season last year for Accrington but an impasse in negotiations this season has left him featuring very little and, for as long as that goes on, clubs are going to be circling.

One such side doing that, then, is Bolton with Football League World being told that the Trotters are plotting a move to try and bring him to the club in the January window, as they look to add to their attacking options for the second half of the season.

Ian Evatt's side certainly wants to be higher than they are in the league and if Charles does join and brings the form he showed at Accrington last year, there's no reason why they can't have a productive second half of the campaign.
