Blackburn Rovers are considering a move for Peterborough’s attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics, Football League World has been told.

Both Rovers and Peterborough are embarking on new chapters this coming season, with the men from Ewood Park now having Jon Dahl Tomasson in charge and Posh back in Sky Bet League One after their relegation from the Sky Bet Championship.

They'll be eager to try and bounce back as soon as possible, of course, and have sought to keep their squad together as much as possible but, having said that, it is a potential scenario that Szmodics leaves the club before the summer transfer window closes.

Indeed, that is because this site has been told that Rovers are interested in the attack-minded player, and that they are currently weighing up making a move for him before the deadline closes.

Rovers were in the promotion picture for much of the season last year but fell away in the closing stages under Tony Mowbray, prompting a managerial change.

They have top attackers to go again under Tomasson, however, and it appears the Dane is wanting to add even more firepower before the window shuts.

Szmodics is in his sights, then, and we'll have to see if Rovers are able to bring him in.
