There is growing confidence that Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz is ready to stay at the Championship club in January and keep his options open for a free transfer move when his contract expires in the summer, sources have exclusively informed Football League World

The 23-year-old has scored 32 goals for Rovers since the start of last season but rumours have been circling about his future ahead of January – with West Ham United among the clubs linked.

Brereton Diaz's contract at Ewood Park expires at the end of 2022/23 and he has not yet agreed new terms so is set to enter the final six months of his deal.

According to FLW sources, there is growing confidence that the Chile international is ready to stay at Blackburn in January and keep his options open for a move away once he becomes a free agent in the summer.

FLW understands that things could change if a major offer is made but at the moment there is a feeling next month may not be the best time to leave Rovers.

Brereton Diaz's nine goals and three assists have helped Jon Dahl Tomasson's side to climb to third at the halfway point in the Championship season.
