Barnsley are considering recalling George Miller from his loan spell with Walsall in the January transfer window, Football League World understands.

Poya Asbaghi is still waiting for his first win as Tykes boss since arriving at Oakwell, with Barnsley eight points adrift of safety heading into the festive schedule.

One key shortcoming is Barnsley's goalscoring department, having scored only 15 times in 22 games this season.

Football League World understands that Asbaghi is now weighing up all his options heading into the January transfer window. One of those options is recalling Miller from Walsall.

The forward has made 16 appearances in League Two this season and a further six in cup competitions. The 23-year-old has been prolific, too, scoring seven times in those 16 league outings.

However, Miller hasn't scored in 11 games now across all competitions.

Miller started his career with Bury, before moving to Middlesbrough in July 2017. He had a series of loans away from the Riverside Stadium, before moving to Barnsley in 2019.

During his Oakwell career, Miller hasn't started a league fixture and is yet to score a goal for the club.
