The city of Leeds was treated to a great sporting event on Saturday evening, as Josh Warrington defeated Lee Selby to become IBF Featherweight World Champion.

Over 25,000 people were packed inside Elland Road to watch Warrington – an avid Leeds United fan – win.

His opponent, Selby, is a Cardiff City supporter, with the boxing rivalry spilling over onto the football terraces.

Leeds and Cardiff’s supporters have been at each other’s necks for some time now in build up to the fight, with even Cardiff City’s Anthony Pilkington weighing in with his opinion.

Pilkington, 29, delivered strong views on Twitter ahead of the fight, as well as after. The Cardiff winger was forced to congratulate Warrington, but in doing so, also took aim at Leeds again.

As expected, Cardiff’s supporters were loving Pilkington’s tweet, which also generated plenty of reaction from Leeds’ supporters, who were quick to deliver their thoughts on Pilkington.
