Brentford defender Yoann Barbet has now played his last game for the club with his contract set to expire this summer.

The Frenchman has been a popular figure in West London since his arrival at the club in 2015, but has now turned down a contract extension in order to seek a fresh challenge.

Barbet played his last match for the Bees against Wigan Athletic in late March. This was when he suffered an ankle injury that meant he sat out the final games of the season.

He was a regular in Thomas Frank's side before this, making 32 appearances in the Championship this season, while he made a total of 118 appearances for the club over his four years in London.

A number of clubs have already shown interest in the 25-year-old, with Aston Villa and Newcastle thought to be interested.

Following Brentford's final match of the season against Preston, which they won 3-0, Barbet posted a tweet where he thanked the club for his experiences there.

This prompted Bees' fans to respond with their goodbye wishes to the defender, with many expressing their sadness at his departure.
