Blackburn Rovers completed their first signing of the January transfer window on Thursday night, with the signing of Sorba Thomas from Huddersfield Town.

The winger has joined the Ewood Park club on loan until the end of the season, and will now be looking to help Jon Dahl Tomasson's side secure a place in the play-offs come the end of the campaign.

Rovers currently sit fourth in the Championship table, and with Thomas cup-tied for their FA Cup clash with Birmingham on Saturday, he could make his debut when they host in the league a week on Monday.

In the meantime, this move to Ewood Park for the 24-year-old is likely to generate a fair amount of interest.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at some of the big questions behind Thomas' move to Blackburn, right here.

Is it a good move?

It does look as though this could be a good move for Thomas to make at this point.

While he stood out for Huddersfield last season, he has found things tough during the current campaign, and it does feel as though a change of scenery may be able to help him rediscover his top form.

That is something he has got with this move to Blackburn, and the fact he is playing for a team in a similar position to what the Terriers were in when he was so good last season, could be important in that respect.

As a result, this could be a useful move for the Wales international, and if it does help him get back to top form, that is obviously going to benefit Blackburn as well.

Will he start?

There is going to be plenty of competition for places for Thomas to deal with at Ewood Park.

With top scorer Ben Brereton-Diaz usually playing out wide, where they also have the likes of Tyrhys Dolan, Ryan Hedges and Dilan Markanday to call upon.

As a result, there is no guarantee that the Huddersfield loanee will walk straight into the starting lineup to fill a space that has just been vacated.

However, considering Blackburn have struggled for a cutting edge in attack in recent weeks, it would be a surprise if Thomas is not given a proper chance to show what he can do at some point.

What does he offer?

Thomas will likely provide a useful creative spark going forward for Blackburn.

Despite his perceived struggles this season, Thomas has still registered six assists in the Championship during the current campaign, which is more than any Blackburn player.

The experience he has of playing an important role in Huddersfield's run to the play-off final last season could also be important, as Rovers look to secure their own top six spot over the course of the next few months.

Beyond that, the fact he does seem to have a point to prove after a tough spell, means he should be pushing to be at the top of his game here, something that should see him produce a work rate that makes him a popular figure at Ewood Park.
