Huddersfield Town could welcome back Danny Ward in some capacity this weekend, with the striker getting out on the training field with Carlos Corberan's squad this week.

Ward hasn't featured for Huddersfield in the Championship since returning to the John Smith's Stadium, with the striker suffering from a hamstring injury and finding himself limited to only 79 minutes of League Cup action so far.

Corberan has insisted that it'll be after the November international break that he looks to get Ward back in the mix at Huddersfield, but that could be brought forward heading into tomorrow's meeting with Luton Town.

Speaking to the club's official media channels, Corberan said: “Danny Ward has joined the squad this week.

“He is not making the same minutes as the other players (so far), but we will give him a proper test today and it is one possibility that he can be involved on Saturday.

“Danny would not play 90 minutes or be at his normal level, but that level of fitness and football should come over the next few weeks.”

Despite the absence of Ward, Huddersfield have enjoyed a strong start to the Championship season, putting 13 points on the board.

They've picked up wins against the likes of Swansea and Millwall on the road, whilst claiming the scalps of Derby and Nottingham Forest at the John Smith's Stadium.

Last time out, they were beaten 2-1 by Bristol City, but will look to rectify that and move above Luton in the Championship table when they meet the Hatters tomorrow.

The Verdict

This would be a nice little boost for Huddersfield.

Ward is a player that Corberan would have been hoping to lean on for a little bit of Championship experience, but injuries have left him sidelined.

Town's bench was weak on Tuesday against Bristol City and the changes the Robins were able to make swung the game in their favour.

If it's a similar group of players this weekend, the presence of Ward will make such a difference on the bench.
