Middlesbrough’s pursuit of Mo Besic has stretched until the end of the summer transfer window, but Tony Pulis has finally landed his target.  

Confirmation has come from Middlesbrough this afternoon that Besic has returned to the Riverside Stadium from Everton, with the 25-year-old arriving on a season-long loan.

Last season, Besic was at Boro from January onwards, with the midfielder key as Pulis’ side challenged for the play-offs and pushed for an instant Premier League return.

The Everton loanee made 17 appearances, including two in the play-off semi-finals, scoring one goal as Boro eventually finished fifth in the table under Pulis.

After that failed promotion push, Boro have started the new season strongly, even without Besic, with Pulis’ side currently unbeaten.

After Besic’s arrival, Boro’s supporters were delighted, with the midfielder a popular addition to Pulis’ playing squad.
