Some positive news for Ipswich Town ahead of Hull clash

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has revealed he’ll be welcoming back Danish defender Jonas Knudsen ahead of tomorrow night’s visit of Hull City.

Knudsen missed the weekend’s 0-0 draw with Sheffield United with a hamstring strain having already played 34 times this season. The 25-year old will likely be in contention tomorrow evening.

Speaking to the Green’Un, McCarthy said: “Jonas is training today so hopefully he’s ok. There are one or two bumps, bruises, scrapes, little knocks and tired legs but they’re ok and are fit.”

Ipswich are nine points outside the top six, albeit with a game in hand over many of the team above them. Hull City are struggling down in 18th, just six points clear of the drop and McCarthy’s side.

Tomorrow night’s clash represents the game in hand that Ipswich have and they could end the evening as high as ninth if results go their way and they overturn a three goal swing with Sheffield United.

Knudsen will be crucial to any slender hopes of promotion they still harbour. He’s been capped twice for his country and is now in his third season at Portman Road, making 116 appearances both at in the centre of defence and at left back.

The Verdict

As battered and bruised bodies limp towards the end of the season, any news regarding players regaining fitness is a huge boost. With just three wins in fifteen, it’s fair to say Ipswich have pretty much blown any hopes of a play off spot, but whilst it is still mathematically possible their fans will still have hope.
