Leeds United were knocked out of the FA Cup yesterday as Newport County of League Two beat the Yorkshire side 2-1.

Thomas Christiansen fielded a much-changed starting eleven for the match, but it ultimately back-fired and they were knocked out of the cup.

Is it fair to say that the Danish boss underestimated the Welsh side?

We discuss....

Chris Gallagher

I wouldn't say that.

As Christiansen pointed out, he made several changes as Leeds won at Burnley in the Carabao Cup and clearly the league is a priority so he was always going to rest some players after a hectic period.

Therefore, I think you need to look at the players that came in. They had a chance to try and push for a place in the first-team and failed, with Newport showing more fight and desire which isn't acceptable.

Alfie Burns

With hindsight you could say that, but what Christiansen put out there had more than enough to progress.

Leeds were never at the races, and although Christiansen took the blame for the defeat, his players let him down.

Some of that starting XI will be lucky to play for Leeds again.

George Dagless

It looked that way.

Perhaps he had in mind the League Cup win earlier this season with that team in mind and he would have felt it was good enough.

Nevertheless, the players on the field have to take some of the blame as many had the chance to prove a point and simply didn't.

Luke Randall

Definitely not.

At the end of the day, Christiansen put out a side that he believed could win the match with a fair few regular first-team players included.

In a match that some fans called the worst they've ever seen this Leeds United side play, a poor performance was to blame for the exit in the third-round of the FA Cup.

Sam Preston

I think he expected more from his players.

I would be surprised if Christiansen didn't know his side would be in for a battle against Newport and he will have been looking to some of his fringe players to stake their claim to remain at the club.

They didn't deliver.
