Sheffield United are still flying high in the Championship and remain firm contenders to win promotion to the Premier League.

Despite chucking away three points at Aston Villa on Friday, the Blades will be still be considered by many to be among the top outfits in the league and on their day they can indeed beat anyone in the league.

The January window has passed with the Blades adding two strikers and a midfielder to their ranks in Kieran Dowelll, and the transfer talk has not stopped there, with the club now being linked with a move for Rotherham midfielder Will Vaulks.

But would Vaulks be the sort of signing who could improve or make an impact at Bramall Lane or is it a bit of a waste of time?

We asked our writers here at FLW for their opinion on the potential move for Vaulks...

Gary Hutchinson

“Not in my opinion.

“I can’t understand what he’d add at the moment.

“Surely talk of transfers should have been put to bed by now.

“If it’s one for the summer, leave it until then. If they go up he’ll be out of his depth.”

George Harbey

"I’d say that it’s a solid signing for United.
"Vaulks is a solid Championship player and was linked with some high-flying teams a couple of months back.
"He’d add real strength to what is already a very strong United midfield."
Lee Connor
If United don't go up, then he'll be a shrewd acquisition, but if they sit in the top flight, i'm not sure he'll get much of a look in.
Vaulks is all action and high energy so would offer something different to the current Blades midfield, but he wouldn't be dislodging Norwood or Fleck.
Still, if he comes on the cheap he'd be a good signing, and Chris Wilder always gets the best out of his players.
