Reports have recently emerged that Leeds United have stepped up their interest in Brentford midfielder Lewis Macleod.

The 24-year old, who is also reportedly wanted by Steven Gerrard's Rangers, is out of contract at Griffin Park in the summer, having made over 40 appearances for the West London club, producing three assists from midfield this season.

With Samu Saiz set to make a shocking exit from Leeds, with a medical at Getafe imminent, Bielsa obviously sees Macleod as a perfect replacement for the Spanish playmaker.

Here, we discuss whether Lewis Macleod would be a good signing for Leeds United...

George Harbey

This would be a great signing for Leeds.

Macleod has been a standout performer for Brentford this season, and it's highly unlikely that he'll want to stay and fight relegation with the Bees, when there's an opportunity for a push for the Premier League available at Elland Road.

Similarly, Brentford won't want to lose their star asset on a potential free transfer in the summer, so could look to cash in on the Scotsman in January.

He'd replace Saiz with ease.

Louie Chandler

100%.

With Saiz on the way out, Bielsa badly needs to bring in somebody capable of playing that attacking midfield role.

Three goals and two assists for a struggling Bees side is a decent return and Bielsa should definitely be interested.

Alfie Burns

It’s not something I think Leeds should be doing.

Saiz will be missed and he needs to replaced by someone with craft, not MacLeod.

So underwhelming.
