Birmingham City have confirmed on their official website that Diego Fabbrini has left on a season long loan.

Diego Fabbrini leaves Birmingham City to spend the year on loan at Real Oviedo.

The former Watford, Millwall and Middlesbrough midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements at Birmingham with Harry Redknapp preferring other options.

In the second half of last season, Fabbrini played in Serie B for Spezia on loan, featuring seventeen times and adding one goal as his team reached the play-offs.

The once-capped Italian international now heads out on loan again and he will play in Spain next season.

Fabbrini will head to the northern Spanish region of Asturias to join Segunda Division outfit Real Oviedo, who finished 8th in the Spanish second tier last season.

With two years still left to run on his contract, the 26-year-old has headed out on loan rather than leaving Birmingham City permanently as some may have expected.

Here is how Blues fans reacted to this news.
