West Brom have been handed a boost with confirmation that winger Matt Phillips has signed a new three-year contract at the club.

Phillips' current deal with the Baggies had been set to expire at the end of this season, but the 28-year-old is now set to remain at the Hawthorns until the summer of 2022 at least.

Having joined West Brom from QPR in July 2016, Phillips has gone onto make 101 appearances in all competitions for the club so far, scoring 14 goals during that time.

Earlier in the window, it had been reported that Premier League trio Aston Villa, Brighton and Sheffield United had been interested in signing the winger, although it has now been confirmed that Phillips won't be going anywhere anytime soon, with the Baggies looking to secure their own return to the top flight this season.

Taking to Twitter to react to news of Phillips' new deal, a number of West Brom fans were delighted by the announcement that the winger will be staying at the club for some time yet.
