Paul Heckingbottom faces a sizeable task at Elland Road following his appointment as Leeds United’s head-coach, with the club’s aim of a top-six finish fading fast.  

Leeds sit in 10th, seven points adrift of the top-six heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures, which pitch Leeds up against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

There is a long list of injuries and suspensions working against Heckingbottom, with central defence a real concern due to Pontus Jansson and Conor Shaughnessy struggling with injury, whilst Liam Cooper is also suspended.

However, a member of Jansson’s family, Peter Jansson, has confirmed on Twitter that the 26-year-old Swedish international should be available this weekend to Heckingbottom, despite appearing to pick up a serious problem against Cardiff City last weekend.

Jansson was stretchered from the field against Cardiff following a clash with Sol Bamba, leaving Leeds to suffer a 4-1 defeat against Neil Warnock’s side.
