‘Snatch their hands off’ – Many Sheffield United fans react to reports of potential player departure

A number of Sheffield United supporters have been reacting to the latest report from the Daily Mail that forward Oli McBurnie is on the radar of Rangers this summer.

It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Rangers are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old heading into the summer, despite him only having managed to score one league goal in 23 appearances this term. That comes with the Scotland international having managed to enjoy a better first campaign in the Premier League scoring six times in 36 games in 2019/20.

It is believed that Sheffield United would only be prepared to accept a £5 million loss on the forward, who they paid £20 million to sign from Swansea City in the summer of 2019. That means that Rangers would need to fork out around £15 million to make this move happen.

McBurnie is a player that can be effective if he gets the right kind of service into the penalty area. In his last season with Swansea in the Championship, he fired in 22 league goals in 42 appearances. That does suggest that there is quality in there that the Blades can unlock in the English second tier next term if he stays with them.

Many Sheffield United fans were prepared to allow him to leave the club if Rangers are going to pay £15 million for him. Although there were also one or two who feel they should be trying to keep hold of him this summer.

Here, we take a look at some of the best reactions on social media…
