Derby County defender Craig Forsyth has admitted that Fulham winger Harry Wilson is the toughest opponent that he has faced in the second-tier this season.

The Rams managed to secure a point in their showdown with the current Championship leaders in November at Craven Cottage.

Selected by manager Wayne Rooney to feature at left-back in this clash, Forsyth produced an assured display in this fixture to prevent Wilson from scoring or providing an assist for Fulham as the game ended in a stalemate.

Since this particular fixture, Wilson has gone on to deliver some superb attacking displays for Marco Silva's side in the Championship.

During the 26 games that he has played at this level in the current campaign, the Wales international has provided 19 direct goal contributions.

Forsyth meanwhile has made 24 appearances for the Rams in all competitions this season and is likely to retain his place in the club's starting eleven for their showdown with Peterborough United this weekend.

Asked on the latest episode of the Sky Sports EFL Podcast to name the toughest opponent that he has faced in the Championship this season, Forsyth said: "I would probably say Harry Wilson.

"Even though I played with him [at Derby] he's still tough to read and tough to play against so I'll go with H."

The Verdict

It is hardly a surprise that Forsyth has singled out Wilson as the Fulham man has set the Championship alight with his attacking displays.

Tasked with helping the Cottagers secure an immediate return to the Premier League, the former Derby man is seemingly on course to achieve this goal as his current side are six points clear of their nearest rivals in the second-tier standings.

Derby will be hoping to still be in contention for survival in the Championship when they face Fulham in April.

Currently five point adrift of safety, the Rams could potentially close this particular gap by securing positive results in their upcoming clashes with Peterborough, Millwall and Luton Town.
