Aston Villa manager Dean Smith hopes to finalise his squad in the final days of the transfer window, with 23-year-old midfielder Isaac Hayden of Newcastle United their top target, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Hayden is keen to leave St James' Park and Villa are reported to be in pole position if the Toon can find a replacement, so there is a good chance the former Arsenal youth player could make a move.

So should Villa go all out for their top target?

We discuss.....

George Dagless

"Absolutely, Smith needs to make this happen.

"Hayden is a very useful footballer and Villa need the energy and running that he brings.

"If they can get him in they should be very pleased indeed."

Gary Hutchinson

“They should go all out for a couple of players.

“In truth, they’ve not had a strong window yet and with 36 hours or so to go, they need action.

“Hayden would be a good target, but fans will look at the left side of that defence and have nightmares.

“Sort that, they’re on track.”

Jay Taylor

“He has handed in a transfer request so they should certainly press ahead with a move for the Newcastle man.

“Villa still need defensive reinforcements despite the arrival of Kourtney Hause. And having been linked with Hayden before now is the time to make their move.

“The defender wants out of the Premier League side, and Villa need defenders – so it’s a move that makes sense from all angles.”
