Nottingham Forest enjoyed a successful transfer deadline-day, earning a much-needed victory and securing deals for two players.

Despite being without a manager, Forest recorded an important victory over bottom of the table Rotherham United last night, defeating their Yorkshire rivals 2-0.

Two Britt Assombalonga goals, eased relegation fears and lifted Forest eight-points clear of the relegation zone.

There was further good news for Forest as the club secured the signings of Zach Clough and Ross McCormack.

Clough joins from Bolton Wanderers, where he has scored 21 goals since making his debut in 2013, on a four-and-a-half year deal for a undisclosed fee.

Striker McCormack joins on-loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season, having fallen out of favour with manager Steve Bruce.

McCormack has just three goals to his name this season, but his pedigree in the Championship is excellent- scoring over 100 goals at this level.
