Ipswich Town supporters have been reacting to the latest comments from manager Paul Lambert defending his team selection, following the Tractor Boys' 1-0 win at Lincoln in the FA Cup first round.

Lambert left a number of Ipswich's first team players out of the squad for the visit to League One rivals Lincoln in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, with the likes of Emyr Huws, Andre Dozzell, Will Keane, Brett McGavin and Anthony Georgiou all being given the chance to stake a claim for a regular spot in the Tractor Boys' first team.

However, Ipswich still managed to secure a 1-0 win thanks to late winner from Alan Judge, who netted his first goal in 46 games for club and country, which saw the Lambert's side claim a first FA Cup win in ten years to progress to the second round of the competition.

The Paul Lambert Quiz – How much do you know about the Ipswich manager?

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times Following the game, Lambert delivered a stern response to his critics over his team selection, saying: "I changed the whole team. As I've said before I don't have a strong team. I don't have a strong 11. I believe in everybody to perform.

"I talk with the medical team who are experts on fitness and muscle injuries and I pick a team of lads who I think can get around the pitch."

Ipswich supporters have been pointing out that these comments are similar to the ones made by Mick McCarthy towards the end of his spell in charge at Portman Road, which saw his relationship with the fans break down.

Having done so well to unite the club since taking over Lambert he should be cautious of undoing that with comments like these, which will have frustrated some of Ipswich's fans following their win against Lincoln.

The fact that Ipswich had not won an FA Cup in ten years meant that the Tractor Boys' supporters wanted to see a strong team be put out to give them the best chance of progression to the next round.
