Slavisa Jokanovic is prepared to give former Derby County full-back Jayden Bogle an opportunity is Sheffield United's starting XI, as per a report from the Sheffield Star, if George Baldock faces a prolonged period on the sidelines.

Baldock, who has cemented himself as a regular for the Yorkshire club ever since his 2017 arrival, left Saturday's clash with what is believed to be a hamstring issue.

The 21-year-old joined The Blades in the summer of 2020 and was part of a double signing that also saw Max Lowe arrive at Bramall Lane.

Playing three times in the Carabao Cup, and adding a further 71 minutes of league action, Bogle's first-team opportunities thus far have been relatively limited.

Bogle appeared 16 times for The Blades in the Premier League last time out, netting twice in the process, whilst operating in both wing-back positions.

The verdict

Bogle is a strong option to have as a replacement for Baldock, should he be sidelined for quite some time.

The 21-year-old has a lot of desirable attributes in a full-back, and his experience of consistently playing in the division above should bode well for him.

He has also proven to be a versatile option, which only makes him more of a trustworthy option, however, it appears that with the return of Rhys Norrington-Davies, The Blades are well-stocked on the opposite flank.

Bogle has a real opportunity to prove himself under Jokanovic, and whilst Baldock has been excellent for the Yorkshire club in recent seasons, a bit of healthy competition could help spur the pair on.
