Sheffield United boss Slavisa Jokanovic has stated that Femi Seriki could leave the club on loan this season, during a recent interview that he gave to The Star.

The 19-year-old academy graduate only broke through to the first team last season and made his debut for the Steel City club as they were eventually relegated from the Premier League.

Seriki featured for the Blades in their recent friendly against Doncaster Rovers and currently finds himself on the fringes of the first team squad at Bramall Lane as we head towards the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

Now Jokanovic has admitted that the player could leave on a temporary basis in order to gain more experience:

"He (Seriki) has a possibility of going out on loan.

"There is a chance that will happen."

The youngster is a right back by trade but is also capable of filling in at right midfield when required.

Seriki originally joined the Blades from Bury back in September of 2019 and has progressed brilliantly since arriving in the Steel City.

The Verdict

Overall I think everyone involved in this potential loan deal will agree that it is the next best step for a player who needs to get more first team minutes under his belt.

Sheffield United are in a good position at present with regards to developing young players and Seriki is one of many bright prospects who are making the grade at Bramall Lane.

There is sure to be plenty of interest in the defender from other sides in the Football League and I am sure the Blades will find the right move for him moving forwards.

If he can go out an impress on loan, there is no reason why he can't come back to the club and go on to become a regular fixture at first team level in the future.
