Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic believes his side can dominate Newcastle United this weekend, when the two clubs meet in the Sky Bet Championship, reports the Shields Gazette.

The Cottagers head to St James’ Park on a six-match unbeaten run, which they salvaged with a late draw against Leeds United on Tuesday evening, thanks to Tom Cairney’s goal.

Jokanovic’s side face another difficult test on Saturday when they face Newcastle, who have opened up a three-point gap at the top of the Championship table, after an impressive week.

Rafa Benitez’s side picked up victories against promotion rivals Brighton and Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town, before securing a point against Reading on Tuesday evening.

Despite the Magpies’ impressive form, Jokanovic was in a confident mood ahead of the clash, he told the Shields Gazette: "We are confident. We are going to try and find our style - we are going to try and dominate Newcastle.

"They are a physical, very strong team. They are going to look and put the ball behind us and around the space behind our centre-backs.

"We are going to try and move the ball and create our chances.

"I don’t expect so many surprises in this game."

While Newcastle are fighting for the Championship title, Fulham sit seventh and are looking to break into the top-six between now and May.

Jokanovic’s side are currently five-points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday, but have a game in hand over their Yorkshire rivals.

Fulham beat Newcastle in the reverse fixture, when Matt Smith’s header was enough to record a 1-0 victory on the opening day of the Championship season.
