Daniel Jebbison has been one of the standout names in terms of transfer rumours at Bramall Lane in the last few weeks and manager Slavisa Jokanovic is confident he has the ability to play at the highest level, he told YorkshireLive.

The 18-year-old earned his first start of the season in Sheffield United's midweek League Cup win over Derby County.

Despite being taken off at half time, Jokanovic was full of praise for Jebbison and despite desperately looking to strengthen his squad before the transfer deadline, seemed keen for him to remain at the club.

The Serbian manager also had another prediction regarding the 18-year-old's future.

He said: "He is a very good prospect as a football player and a very good worker. He is really healthy and I’m sure he will be an important player in the Premier League and Championship and England national team, why not?"

High praise from the small sample size Jokanovic has seen of Jebbison both on and off the pitch. With just six days remaining things are looking tense at Bramall Lane with the loan addition of Ben Davies the club's only summer signing despite the parachute payments they have received following relegation from the Premier League.

The Verdict

These comments definitely should be taken with a pinch of salt, Jokanovic has had a lot of media duties and tension in the brief time he has been at the club.

A lot of questioning over the futures of the likes of Jebbison, previously Aaron Ramsdale, and possibly just wanted to establish the fact that he does rate the 18-year-old as part of his plans, amid the transfer speculation.

The Blades need to get back on track quickly and have the chance to do so when they travel to Luton Town this weekend, going into the first international break winless in the league would represent an extremely below par start to the campaign.
