West Brom have put themselves in a strong position to win promotion from the Championship this season, with just nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

The Baggies are currently sat second in the second tier standings, and will be hoping they can return to winning ways, after being winless in their last two league matches.

Slaven Bilic's men are six points clear of third-placed Fulham, so their promotion chances are in their own hands, which will be pleasing to see for the club's supporters.

However, due to recent off-the-field events, all fixtures have been called to an abrupt halt, with the EFL previously announcing that no scheduled return date has been set as of yet.

This does give members of the West Brom squad an opportunity to find their fitness though, with some of Bilic's squad being sidelined through injury during the second-half of this year's campaign.

Both Grady Diangana and Ahmed Hegazi are some of those, and they'll be hoping to play their part in their promotion push when the season does get back underway.

Speaking in an interview with the Express & Star, Bilic issued a positive injury update on Hegazi, and revealed that he was set to return to training before

"Now most of the clubs, apart from the big, big, big injuries and surgeries, will have a full squad and we are going to benefit from that. Ahmed is feeling great. He is training. He was supposed to come back in a week anyway when this happened."

Bilic went on to admit that it is a similar situation with Diangana, and feels as though the extended break from action could be useful to the winger.

"It’s the same with Grady. I spoke to him. There isn’t going to be a big difference between him and the guys who played against Swansea.

"The break is long, it’s not two weeks, it’s long enough for all of them to be in the same position.

"It’s not that Grady didn’t play for a year. I expect we will not have to treat them any different to any of the other boys, they are going to be at the same level."

The Verdict:

This is a promising update from Bilic.

Diangana has shown that he's a brilliant player on his day, and surely will be playing Premier League football regularly next season.

Hegazi has been a reliable member of the squad when called upon, and it'll be interesting to see if he comes back into the side when deemed fit enough, as Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi have been hugely impressive for much of this season.

But competition for places is never a bad dilemma to have as a manager, and Bilic will be hoping that this can bring the best out of his squad at a crucial stage of the season.
