West Bromwich Albion manager Slaven Bilic has praised his players' work during the self-isolation period.

The Baggies currently sit in second place in the Championship table and will be aiming to earn promotion to the Premier League when/if the season returns.

West Brom return to training on Monday where they'll be able to train in groups of four or five as they maintain their social distancing ahead of a potential return to action.

The players have had to train by themselves for the last couple of months to ensure that they maintain the self-isolation measures. Bilic has been impressed with how the squad has coped with their individual programmes and has expressed his happiness.

Speaking to the Express and Star, Bilic said: "They have been great – we expected that to be fair, that is why we gave them those kinds of programmes.

"I knew they had a big motivation and they were going to be very professional and good. But they have not been good they have been exceptional. They have been superb."

The Verdict

It must be great for a manager to see that his trust in players has shone through and that they all followed their specific individual programmes during their self-isolation periods.

Bilic is a very good man manager and often gets players on his side so it's no surprise to hear this and the Croatian can now start his preparation in hope of a restart to the current suspended campaign.

This will be a boost to the Baggies and their hopes of achieving promotion to the Premier League will have only increased as Bilic seems in a confident mood ahead of the return to training.
