West Brom boss Slaven Bilic has hit out at the schedule that has faced his side during the run-in, insisting it is a factor he isn’t happy about.

Bilic’s side drew 0-0 with Fulham on Tuesday night, but are back in action in little over 24 hours when they travel to West Yorkshire to take on Huddersfield Town in another hugely important fixture.

That will mean that between their 4-2 win over Hull City on July 5th and that trip to Huddersfield, West Brom will have played five times in only 13 days.

QUIZ: Can you name the stadium of these 40 EFL clubs?

As quoted in the Express and Star, Bilic has hit out at that schedule: “We are expecting what could be the most important week of our careers. We have to give everything and be ready.

“But I have to say I am not happy with are playing on Friday.

“I never like to moan but I am not happy with the schedule.

“Since the Hull game that was on Sunday, to Huddersfield on Friday, we play five games in 13 days.

“Other teams are playing five games in 15 days which is awful, which is difficult. But we have to do five games in 13 days.

“I’d like people to check because I don’t think that has ever happened before. Five games in 13 days, that is too much but so be it.

“I told the guys we have got to be more ready on Friday night than if the game was on Saturday. And we will be ready.”

The dropped points against Fulham on Saturday have made Albion’s position in the automatic promotion place look vulnerable, with Brentford lurking and now just a point behind them

However, victory over Huddersfield on Friday will keep Bilic’s side ahead of them heading into the final game of the season next week.

The Verdict

It’s been a really intense period in the Championship and West Brom, like so many other sides, will be feeling the pinch now.

Five games in 13 days is tough, but the finishing line is in sight and West Brom need to put these factors they feel are against them to one side.

Two wins will see them into the Premier League and, if they get over the line, it’ll all be worth while.
