West Bromwich Albion head coach Slaven Bilic has delivered an injury update on Kieran Gibbs and Grady Diangana, ahead of the FA Cup third-round clash with Charlton Athletic tomorrow.
Gibbs has been an important player for West Brom this season, scoring one goal in ten Championship appearances for the Baggies, although the 30-year-old has also struggled with injuries throughout the campaign.
He returned from a hamstring injury for the top-of-the-table clash with Leeds United on New Year’s Day, but he lasted just 18 minutes, before being replaced by Conor Townsend.
Meanwhile, Diangana has been one of the most exciting players in the Championship this season and has registered five goals and five assists in 19 league appearances for West Brom, but he’s missed the last four matches for the Baggies with a back problem.
Bilic has confirmed that both players will miss the FA Cup clash with Charlton. Gibbs is awaiting the results of a scan on his injury, while Diangana is making progress towards his recovery, but the third-round tie at The Valley will come too soon for him.
The West Brom boss told the Express & Star: “We are waiting for Kieran’s scan and then we’ll know.”
On the possibility of Diangana featuring against Charlton, Bilic added: “No, but definitely for the next game. His progress is going as expected.
“At the beginning you only know four weeks, and it’s not a big injury, but it’s not he’s had a setback, it’s all good, but you don’t want to rush too much.”

Diangana has been excellent for West Brom this season and this update suggests that he’s making good progress towards his recovery, which is very good news for the Baggies.
It seems as though the winger could be fit for the league game with Charlton next weekend, which is very promising, as West Brom have really missed him over the past few matches and have failed to win a game since he got injured.
As for Gibbs, he’s struggled with injury problems so far this season, so hopefully the scan results reveal that it isn’t a serious injury. He’s one of the best left-backs in the Championship, so it’ll be a blow for West Brom if he’s ruled out again.
