Slaven Bilic has confirmed that Kieran Gibbs will start for West Bromwich Albion in Tuesday night's FA Cup clash with Newcastle United.

The Baggies take on Newcastle in the fifth round of the competition tomorrow night, with Steve Bruce's Newcastle visiting the Hawthorns hoping to avoid defeat to the Championship league leaders.

Whilst progressing into the quarter finals would be a great achievement for Albion, Bilic is likely to ring the changes on Tuesday evening, with Kamil Grosicki and Callum Robinson both cup-tied.

One change he looks set to make involves Kieran Gibbs - the left-back has been missing since the Baggies' draw with Leeds United on New Year's Day, where he limped off with an injury.

The 30-year-old had only just reclaimed his place in the first-team after missing almost three months of the season with injury, but looks set to start against Newcastle tomorrow night.

Via the Birmingham Mail, Bilic said: "Kieran has been training with us for more than a couple of weeks now. He looks good, he looks fresh

"With Kieran, because he had not one injury but three of them in this season, we wanted him to have one or two games for under 23s, because one thing is to train but another thing is to play.

"He got injured in a game. We wanted him to get rid of it through games for under 23s, but because of the weather we couldn’t have that. He played 45 minutes.

"But based on training he’s ready. Based on training he looks sharp, he looks good. Sharp legs, everything. Skill was never a question mark.

"He has a top left foot. He’s there and he’s going to start tomorrow."

Albion will be looking to right their wrongs and get back to winning ways tomorrow night - albeit in a different competition - after losing 1-0 to Wigan Athletic at the weekend.

The Baggies still sit six points clear of third-placed Fulham, but the gap to Leeds United in second has been cut to just one point.

The Verdict

It will be great for Gibbs to get back on the grass and get some minutes into his legs tomorrow night.

You had to feel sorry for him when he hobbled off against Leeds after an off-the-ball incident, and he has been desperately unlucky with injuries over the past year or two.

Conor Townsend has really impressed in his absence, though, so Gibbs will have to be at his best if he is start forcing his way back into the side.
