With just a handful of games left to play this season, the race for automatic promotion is heating up in the Sky Bet Championship.

Norwich City, Sheffield United and Leeds United have been at all loggerheads all season long, with each team spending time at the top of the league.

But it's Daniel Farke's men who look the most likely to book their place in the Premier League first, with the Canaries embarking on a run of 10 wins in 11 league games to go seven points clear at the top.

This leaves the second automatic promotion spot up for grabs, with Sheffield United currently in the driving seat to finish beside Norwich.

Chris Wilder's men looked to have thrown their chance away less than a fortnight ago, when they lost 3-2 at home to Bristol City, and Leeds defeated Milwall 3-2 at Elland Road.

But after a 1-0 away win at Preston on Saturday, the Blades propelled themselves back into the top two after Leeds' 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City, which shows that this race is going right down to the wire.

This year's race for automatic promotion is so tough to call, but a host of Sky Sports pundits have had their say on who will be in the Premier League next season.

Each one of them predicts that Norwich will finish as champions, with the vast majority predicting that Sheffield United will keep their place in the top two.

Don Goodman said: "Second place is a tough one and it is pretty much a 50/50. But I think Sheffield United can just grind out results and that will see them through."

But former Leeds United midfielder David Prutton believes that Marcelo Bielsa's men will return to the top two, saying: "I know Leeds suffered a setback at the weekend but every time you expect them to fall away they come back stronger - I think they will just edge it."

Leeds travel to Preston North End on Tuesday night, whilst Sheffield United travel to Birmingham on Wednesday evening.

The Verdict

This season's race for automatic promotion is one of the best the division has seen in recent years, and it is so incredibly tough to call.

Both Leeds and Sheffield United have some tough tests ahead, but I think the Blades have the most winnable run-in ahead out of the two sides.

Leeds will fancy their chances, but Tuesday night's clash with Preston will be a tough test for Marcelo Bielsa's men.
